The weekend delight

After the political uprising has been cooled down, I went to work again last Monday and everything seemed all too unfamiliar out of a sudden. I start to think that I have seriously developed a sick building syndrome. On Wednesday, I had to arrange a courtesy call on the President with Charge d' Affaires from Romania to Thailand and it turned out to be an absolutely time consuming yet highly constructive conversation. How many times would you have a chance to hear the Senate Speaker, Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee and a diplomatic representative a foreign country, who happens to understand Thailand so well, exchange views on the national conflict occurred and the possible solution to resolve it? One down point about it was that I spent almost two days writing the minute grrr!
This weekend turns out to be kind of boring because most of my friends took a trip to Hua HIn, a beach town near Bangkok and perhaps are having bbq and wine buffet on the rooftop of the hotel right now! Plus a home-made cocktail (vodka with different kinds of fruit juice) before bedtime. I reckon they would because if I were there, the possibility of that happening is very high lol! By the way, this picture kicks it. I have a strong obsession with rings and these are pretty rocking. Have a nice weekend everyone :)

The cut is deep. The wound is hard to heal.

Due to the on-going riot which has taken place in central Bangkok, the government authorized five official holidays in Bangkok, that is from Monday to Friday. Today is the fifth day of me not having to go to work and staying at home for the fear of getting injured by terrorists who mingled with the protesters in the capital. Not that I'm happy about these days off. I can't do much at home except watching teevo. All channels showed updated news about the political tension in Thailand. The most unacceptable part is that I realize then that many international news channels like CNN, Rueters, BBC and Sky News reporting news with bias and presenting it from one side perspective. What a disgrace!
All in all, I'm actually dying of boredom! Even though the core leaders announced the disperse of protest the other days, the protesters, obviously unsatisfied, started burning down about 30 buildings in the city including Siam Square and Central World, two of my favourite shopping places ever into ashes :'( Bangkok was literally on fire. Most department stores are closed! Skytrain and subway train do not operate! Curfew is still in force until Saturday! Overall, Bangkok looks pretty much like a deserted city after war. The situation begins to show a hopeful sign though as Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is managing to clear up the area. I believe soon everything should get back to normal and Bangkok will be the same Bangkok I knew again. Lively, peaceful and crowded with happy people with a smile on their faces!
Again these pictures have nothing to do with what I talked about earlier haha! Just me being super bored at home. Derek Lam's fall trend "The Myth of the West" for Estee Lauder.

Political unrest

The government has authorised today and tomorrow official holidays in Bangkok due to the current political situation. I quite enjoy the fact that I don't have to go to work and all. But the reason behind this kind of makes me depressed. If you told me that something like this would happen in Thailand, the country most westerners know as the land of smile, I would probably laugh in your face and say it's the most ridiculous joke I have ever heard. How many lives have to be sacrificed for the so called democracy, merely a lame excuse for this bloody protest? I'm so sick of politics, the politician's crave for power and also the poor and uneducated citizens who have been brainwashed by a few bastards. And sadly they are willing to do just anything to achieve their missions even it means they have to kill their country fellows, burn down the city and put their own lives on a stake. I have no clue when this will be over. But in the end, everybody loses ...
I'm praying for my country.

Would it be super strange if I would start talking about fashion out of a sudden haha? Mood switch bammm! I love this look of her, no matter who she is. Love the plaid, the jacket and the side braid. Something inspirational for today.

rainbow comes around me on my 26th birthday

This is the birthday cake Matti gave to me! He dropped it on the way to the room so it looked all kind of messy. Still it was something lovely he did for me. And the Scharzwald cake was always my favourite yum yum :)

Just realised my last blog entry was on 10th March 2010! Wow that has been a pretty long ass time ago. I have constantly logged in and checked what was going on once in a while, reading other fashionistas' groovy blogs, spying on edgy outfits and lovely photos of them. Never a day though had I got time to write my own.
Since last month, I spent most of my time engaging myself in preparing and arranging the dinner reception for women parliamentarians at this one international assembly which was held in Bangkok between 27 March till 1 April 2010. I was responsible for inviting approximately 300 guests and informing them about the date and venue for the reception party and everything. I don't think I have ever made that many phonecalls in my life within a few days. I called 150 senators and about 60 woman members of parliament as well as liaison officers of delegates from 120 countries. It was exhausting I won't deny it. Seeing things went well and every honourable guests enjoying the party made me delighted that I was even a part of something like this. Grandeur!
After that, I needed to arrange a study programme for a delegation from Bhutan I used to mentioned in the previous blog. Seriously I have never had such horrible experience working with my boss. I usually don't admire the way she copes with work sometimes. But this time it had gone from bad to WORST!!! I couldn't be any happier it was over though. After that sleep and fun deprived week was over, I had about 12 days off! On 8th April, I finally managed to submit the final draft of my research paper (165 pages in total) and felt extremely relieved since I have been working on it for over a year!
On 9th April, it was my 26th birthday! I felt so freaking old! I woke up early to make a merit and welcome all the good things into life. This day was also the day that my boyfriend came from Germany to visit me for a month. It was definitely the best birthday and he was for sure the best gift I could ever asked for. Happy much belated birthday to me :)

Every once in a while, there comes a time when you just can't deal with any slightest complication in life. You only want to leave all things behind and set off to somewhere far and away. Lately I have been barely able to concentrate neither on my tasks at work nor my research paper. Once summer begins, my priority is planning out a decent trip to some beaches or paradise-like islands. Despite a piling amount of work, I constantly find a precious little bit of time to look for a secluded magnificent bungalow by the beach to stay with my boyfriend during the long long holiday in mid April. I have been indecisive and my boyfriend definitely is not a good decision maker! (Thank God we have finally summed up about which island we are going to!) We have only two options right about now.

One beach we have chosen is called Sairee beach, the longest and most popular beach on the island. It is lined with bars, restaurants, resorts and dive centres. The beach itself doesn't get overcrowded and there is plenty of space to spread your towel and relax. Sairee beach is the place to watch the sunset and with many beach side bars to choose from, sipping a cocktail in the evening is a great way to round off a hectic day of beach bumming. One downside of this beach is not the fact that it will get seriously crowded in April but my ex boyfriend (in the previous post) happens to be a diving instructor at a dive centre located right on that beach. And I happen to have the very least interest to see him now. My boyfriend particularly use the word 'hate' with my ex! Things could get ugly and complicated. Plus I don't want to spend my holiday looking out for him, panicking over if he might show up here and there and whether he's going to see me with my boyfriend or not. That would totally ruin everything.

Another is called Thian Og Bay which seems to be relatively secluded and not-so-touristy compared to Sairee beach. Locally the bay is known as Shark Bay as the water is home to harmless reef sharks. This makes it a perfect location to chill out and get away from the hustle and bustle. Yet, it totally lacks all the civilization I need. I mean no 7-11!!! And I practically live on 7-11 haha! Do you have any suggestions guys? What should I do?

Here is anyway the very lovely summer collection from Forever21! I'm going shopping and these items will be the inhabitants of my closet soon!

the.second.wedding

Of course, not of mine! I attended another wedding of my English major classmate from the university last Saturday and it was literally awesome. No fancy reception and off-the-fairy-tale layers of wedding cake. Just ridiculous amount of great food, endless supply of booze, great music from a live band and bucket loads of fun and never-ending chit chat with friends. It was just the kind of wedding I would love to crash!
I wore my dark grey one-shouldered dress and a new pair of heels. At first, it felt completely uncomfy to walk in them because they made me taller than everyone in the party haha! But after a while, I got used to it and felt terrific. I am still not convinced that I should wear heels more often anyhow.
Here are some photos from that night mostly of me. You can also see the groom and the bride there. My friend was the prettiest girl and despite of her horrible sore-throat, she sang lovely songs all night while her hubby was rolling on the drum set. Pretty awesome couple innit?

moving.on

Breaking up with someone you love is hard. Seeing that someone you love moving on and dating someone is harder. "I'm seeing someone right now" feels like millions of slaps on the face. Somehow it's ridiculously absurd that I should feel this way, hurtfully devastated, especially when I broke up with him for over 4 years already. Not to mention the fact that I have been with my current boyfriend for almost 3 years now. And I happen to know that he has had many girls. He just didn't break the news to me like this time.

Our relationship was complex. He couldn't even be considered as a boyfriend material yet there is something about him that I can't seem to get over. Something that keeps me coming back for more. I know I'm desperate. The act of emotional unfaithfulness is grave and selfish. Even though I feel considerably guilty that deep in my heart I still have a very tiny teeny weeny little feeling for this guy, I can't help myself from thinking about him and the past we once shared. Oh my gosh, I'm such a bad person.

I don't think it's because he's Swedish too though.
